What you are saying about the lane markings is incomplete: the vertices do not always represent a line equation, they are also (sometimes) control points of bezier curves (like in your figure b example). The “types” parameter of the labels reflect it: if the annotation is part of a bezier curve then you will see something like “CCCL” if not the label is a line and you will only see “L”s.
